Talk Abstract:
Many of us wake up one day to find ourselves keepers of the family history or of important family heirlooms and keepsakes. The actions we take now will decide what our posterity knows of their ancestors, including ourselves! Making sure our family photos, documents, histories and memorabilia are protected, fully identified, safely displayed and properly stored. These are some of the most significant things we may ever do for our kin. Done properly, these things will outlast us and help bind future generations to our family trees. Presentation will cover the basics and includes an introduction to websites of major suppliers of archival products, which also contain free educational brochures, articles, videos and examples. We will then visit the websites of major organizations that teach about preservation methods and techniques. These sites offer many additional free guides and resources. You will then be able to start your plan and take the first steps in a logical, ordered and comfortable way.
